The Madison Hotel Lends Luxury to Downtown
Memphis' Crown Jewel is Fit for a King

MEMPHIS, Tenn., May 7, 2002 - The home of the King can now boast the Madison Hotel, a crown jewel in the effort to revitalize the banks of the Mississippi River.

When The Madison Hotel opens its doors in May of 2002, the stylish, luxury boutique hotel located in the heart of downtown Memphis will be the first of its kind for the River City.

Catering to both business and leisure travelers, the Madison Hotel emphasizes quality service, unique rooms and modern amenities, all in a chic setting. Steps from the business district, shops, restaurants and world famous Beale Street, the hotel is a traveler's paradise, highlighted by a majestic view of the Mississippi River.

The hotel's contemporary design is juxtaposed with the classic style of the building's structure, a turn-of-the-century bank building. Imported fabrics and furniture help to define the sophisticated, elegant atmosphere in which guests can conduct business, celebrate special occasions or simply relax.

The Madison Hotel also pays visual tribute to Memphis' rich musical history, a melting pot of sounds and rhythms that has provided inspiration for the hotel's dˇcor and interior design.
"The Madison Hotel is more than just a place to stay. We have created a beautiful, one-of-a-kind hotel for business and leisure travelers alike," says Mohamad Hakimian, President and CEO of Unison Hotel Company, the management company of the hotel. "The hotel combines the charming qualities of the bank's early 20th century architecture with the benefits and services of a modern facility."

The ceilings in the two-story lobby are adorned with detailed millwork. The bank's vault has been converted into a fitness center complete with an indoor swimming pool.

The Madison Hotel features 110 rooms, including 44 suites. Room rates range from $190.00 to $1,160.00. Guest rooms are equipped with wet bars, entertainment systems, mini refrigerators and high-speed Internet access. Rooms are furnished with fine Italian linen and down duvet, and in-room dining is available 24 hours a day.
The attention to detail, the luxurious ambiance and the view of Ol' Man River from the hotel make the Madison Hotel a destination for the most distinguished travelers.

"We have created a 16-story retreat where everyone can enjoy the best of what Memphis has to offer - the view of the river and life's luxuries," says Hakimian.

Memphis is proud to have the Madison Hotel experience as a cornerstone of the downtown business community.

"The Madison Hotel is another terrific example of downtown development. It will be a great highlight to the city, as it adds class, style and personality to the rejuvenated downtown scene," says Myron Hughes, vice president of planning and development for the Center City Commission. "Hopefully, other developers will find inspiration in the Madison Hotel to follow in their example and renovate some of Memphis' historic buildings, especially along Main Street."
