The Madison Hotel Announces a New Sunset Tradition

What: "Sunset Atop the Madison"

Where: The Madison Hotel rooftop terrace

When: Kick-off: April 17 at 5:30 p.m.; then every Thursday until end of October

Memphis, Tenn., March 18, 2003 - The Madison Hotel, Memphis' premier luxury hotel, is starting a new tradition that will let people experience breathtaking sunsets over the Mississippi River in a comfortable, elegant environment.

Beginning April 17 at 5:30 p.m., The Madison will launch "Sunset Atop the Madison," a weekly after-work event featuring live entertainment, a cash bar, complimentary hors d'oeuvres and a special rooftop terrace menu, as well as exclusive performances and events. It'll be downtown's premier venue for unwinding at the end of the day and settling into the evening in style.

"There's not a single word that can fully describe the panoramic view of the river and downtown Memphis from our roof terrace," says Mohamed Hakimian, President and CEO of Unison Hotel Company, the hotel's management company. "It's breathtaking and awe-inspiring, and worthy of a celebration. Once people experience the event, we are confident they will come back time and time again."

The "Sunset Atop the Madison" festivities will continue every Thursday evening from 5:30 to 11 p.m. until the end of October (weather permitting). In addition, the hotel roof terrace will remain open every day for sunset gazers throughout the week (weather permitting).

The hotel is located in the former Tennessee Trust Building at 79 Madison Ave. It was rehabilitated for use as a 110-room luxury boutique hotel that features stylish, contemporary dŽcor and imported fabrics and furnishings that give it a distinctly European feel. From the portraits of blues artists in the mezzanine to the clef sign-shaped stair rail, the hotel's design pays tribute to the heritage of Memphis musicians while maintaining the tradition of southern hospitality and community values. Hotel amenities include an indoor heated lap pool, a bank vault converted fitness center, 24-hour in-room dining and a rooftop pavilion that features sweeping views of the Mississippi River.

The Madison Hotel is an affiliate of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World and an AAA 4 Diamond award recipient
